Everybody want to learn how to take better holiday snaps. Below we’ve put together some easy tips to help you improve the quality of your holiday photographs.
1. Make Landscape Photos More Interesting
Instead of just pointing your camera at the horizon and shooting always try and make a point of putting something of interest in the foreground. Doing so will but the horizon into perspective and context, as in the beach scene below.
In addition having something in the foreground will make the image more interesting from the viewers perspective as it will automatically draw the viewers eye through the photograph.
2. Photograph The Locals, Not Just Your Family
When you get back home and show people you holiday snaps do they really want to see 300 pictures of your family in every place you visited? The answer is no!
You’ll end up with a much more interesting set of photographs if you photograph the locals and the people you meet along your adventures. Most people you meet will be only to happy to have their photograph taken. Ask the people you meet if they mind having their photo taken – they will probably be flattered and you will end up with some much more interesting holiday photographs.
3. Be Careful At Sunset
Many people struggle to take pictures during sun set. All to often people end up with blurred photos – this is caused by the low light causing you camera to use a slow shutter speed. At slower shutter speeds it is very hard to hold the camera still enough to take a sharp picture.
The solution to taking great photos during low light conditions is to keep the camera perfectly still. Most people are not in the habit of carrying a tripod around with them so instead look for a fence, post, stationary car that you can rest the camera on while you take the shot. Doing so will result in a nice sharp photo.
4. Play Around With Your Camera
Most peoples holiday photos consist of nothing but portraits and landscapes. Spend some time just playing around with your camera looking for interesting angles, details or reflections.
You will be amazed at the results you will get if you spend just 30 minutes playing around with your camera while you are at the beach. Give it a try, have fun with your camera and experiment and see what shots you end up with.
